The Altamira Torres '1888' model is a traditional handmade guitar honouring the great Antonio de Torres. Antonio Torres was the most important Spanish guitar maker of the 19th century, and his genius creativity and production technology developed the guitar into the instrument we know of today. His designs greatly improved the overall dimensions and construction of older, historical string instruments and are the first recognisably modern classical guitars. The Altamira "Torres" model is based on the guitar numbered SE114 made by the master Antonio Torres in 1888, and constructed to reflect the tonal qualities and design aesthetic of the original instrument.

This excellent replica is a tribute to the great master of Spanish guitar building, Antonio de Torres. The guitar on which this beautiful instrument is based is a guitar from 1888, the same year that Antonio de Torres built Francisco Tárregas guitar. Therefore this model is built with a traditional fan strut. The accurate inlay work gives this special instrument a noble and refined appearance. The back is made of gorgeously-figured maple, and the sound is immediate, clear and delicate, with an abundant range of tone colors due to Torres’ famous fan bracing method.

Constructed entirely by hand in Altamira's Hansen Workshop, this stunning instrument is phenomenal both tonally and visually. Hanson’s instruments are made with meticulous attention to detail, and tailored to musicians’ exact requirements and specification requests. Incudes deluxe hardshell case.
