PLEK

All of our Cole Clarks have been PLEKed!

PLEK machines are built and sold by A+D Gitarrentechnologie of Berlin, Germany. The machines were developed by musician and guitar instructor Gerd Anke with his partner Michael Dubach, who called their company PLEKTRON when it was founded in 1990. The goal of the PLEK process they created is to guarantee the best possible string action for each instrument. Simply put, a guitar with optimized playability sounds better. The strings do not strike the frets during playing and any intonation problems that may occur due to too-low string action are eliminated. Similarly, action that’s too high is also a thing of the past with PLEKing.

The PLEKing process is done by CNC (computer numerical control) machines, which use microprocessors to perform their tasks. That doesn’t mean human craftspeople are excluded from this process. The PLEK machine is ultimately a tool to reduce variances between guitars, which allows Cole Clarks expert builders to do their jobs more efficiently.

The Cole Clark 'Angel' AN2EC RDBL Redwood / Blackwood is a beautifully crafted acoustic-electric guitar that pairs stunning Australian-grown tonewoods with world-class electronics. Featuring a Grand Auditorium body with a cutaway, this model is part of the Angel 2 Series and boasts a solid Californian Redwood top and solid Blackwood back and sides. These tonewoods combine to deliver a lush, dynamic voice that’s rich in warmth and sparkle—ideal for everything from delicate fingerpicking to powerful strumming.

A highlight of this model is the Cole Clark 3-way pickup system, which offers versatile, natural-sounding amplification. The nitrocellulose satin finish enhances resonance while showcasing the unique figuring of the tonewoods. Visually, the guitar is adorned with inlaid timber binding, snowflake fretboard inlays, and a sleek Blackbean/Blackwood bridge and fretboard. Complete with a Cole Clark tweed hardcase and a PLEK-optimized setup, the AN2EC RDBL is a stunning performance-ready instrument.

  • Australian-grown Redwood top paired with solid Blackwood back and sides

The last acoustic I'll ever need

I intended to buy a Bunya/Blackwood Angel 2, but when I played the Redwood I couldn't resist the warmth of the sound, that still retained a sharp, clear quality. Will be passing this guitar to my grandchildren, I adore it.
