The Bourgeois DS-260 is based on the popular Slope D model and uses design elements from the early years of guitar design to create an instrument with simple elegance and the highest quality craftsmanship and tone expected from Bourgeois guitars. This slope shouldered dreadnought features an Adirondack spruce top, Indian rosewood sides and back and a slotted headstock with a 12 fret body join.
Joining the neck to the body at the 12 fret moves the sound hole closer to the guitars waist and the bridge further down the lower bout. This allows the belly bridge to drive the top at the widest point of the lower bout providing a loose and open sound quality. The Adirondack spruce top has a crisp and distinct attack with tones of headroom and the Indian rosewood provides rich and full bass frequencies and lots of complex overtones. The DS-260 works great for big open chord strumming and the 1 3/4″ nut width increases the string spacing making for easy finger style passages.
This 199-built guitar looks to have had a few repairs over the years - binding has been reattached in one place, a back brace aooears to have been reglued and, most notabley, there's been a top repair at some point behind the bridge. There's general playwear and light scratches too, but none of this affects the tone - it's simply a powerhouse dreadnought, with incredible volume, sustain and clarity, and a loud, balanced and authoritative voice. There's no muddiness or wooliness at all, and chords are rich and clear with tremendous headroom. The playability is great too, with a slick and buzz-free action that makes it hard to out down. There's even an onboard K&K Pure Mini for naturl plugged-in tones. A killer boutique dreadnought at a very reasonable price! Includes original hardshell case.
