AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
Immerse yourself in the timeless charm of the Gibson Acoustic 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo 'Light Aged Vintage Sunburst' Acoustic Guitar. Drawing inspiration from the exceedingly rare rosewood-equipped Southern Jumbos of yesteryears, this exceptional instrument is lovingly aged to capture the essence of a true vintage classic. Gibson Acoustic's revolutionary thermal aging process infuses this guitar's red Adirondack spruce top with the dry, resonant, and responsive voice of a decades-old masterpiece. With rosewood back and sides, the 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo transforms its traditionally rustic sound into a lush symphony of rich highs, resonant lows, and mellifluous midrange tones.
Crafted to perfection, this Southern Jumbo features a period-correct mahogany neck shaped into a comfortable "Historic" profile and a sleek rosewood fingerboard. The meticulous artisans at Gibson Acoustic's Bozeman, Montana, facility adorn this guitar with a Murphy Lab-style Light Aged finish, offering a top-tier Gibson that rivals any vintage Southern Jumbo. Often regarded as the J-45's sophisticated sibling, the Southern Jumbo is renowned for its spruce-top and mahogany body, but a few rare models in the early 1940s boasted exquisite rosewood back and sides – a rarity splendidly replicated in the Gibson Acoustic 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo Murphy Lab Light Aged.
This exquisite instrument is paired with an expansive aged Adirondack red spruce top, resulting in brilliant highs, resonant lows, and a mildly scooped midrange that blends harmoniously with vocals. The guitar's thermally aged top, achieved through torrefication, endows it with a vintage voice characterized by a wonderfully dry, crisp, and exceptionally resonant tone. Gibson Acoustic, with its roots dating back to Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the late 1800s and its present home in Bozeman, Montana, is celebrated for creating some of the world's finest acoustic instruments. The 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo exemplifies this legacy, featuring premium tonewoods, quality hardware, and meticulous craftsmanship. A testament to enduring greatness, this Round Shoulder Dreadnought guitar in Vintage Sunburst finish embodies the essence of timeless sound and quality craftsmanship.
