Wish I’d bought a guitar like this 20 years ago! Love it!
Thank you to the gang at the acoustic centre. Your service was amazing. It came down to the maton srs808 and one other, but I knew I couldn’t go wrong. The guitar is stunning, it feels and sounds amazing. Thank you again, would highly recommend
I spent quite a while at the Acoustic Centre and played several guitars. But Jed led me to this beautiful instrument. I really couldn't be happier with the guitar or Jed's assistance. Thank you :-)

Loved the warm tone - certainly different to my Maton 325 c i own. The only issue had was the action felt to high, certainly higher felt than compared to my 325c. Matons website said the Low E should be 2.1mm - was 2.5mm High E should be 1.6 - was 2mm The Neck relief was perfect- so will have to lower the action at the saddle nut, to there figures , and see how is. Note- Followed Matons setup criteria on how to check

So, having owned a few Matons over the years, I confess to having turned away from them lately in search of acoustic tone. However, my current band requires a lot of acoustic guitar through other people's PAs (ie house systems) and I have been struggling with feedback and tone and, well, everything! So, fine, if nothing else I know a Maton will have a brilliant pickup and the acoustic tone doesn't matter onstage, can't hear it anyway! So, call my favourite shop in the world, resist the temptation to ask 'what's that Josh' when our man answers the phone, and ask about the SRS808C which seemed best suited to what I do. As always, great service, no attempts to oversell, upsell or whatever, and a confident prediction that I will be pleasantly surprise by how it sounds unplugged.. O Rly? So, parted with a quite reasonable amount of cash, considering the specs and awaited the delivery, which was pretty quick, actually. And yes, the AP5 Pro is a FANTASTIC pickup. Oh, the guitar? Its absolutely brilliant, right out of the case and unplugged! Warm and sweet with a bright shimmering top end, so much better that I expected and worlds away from either my old 808 from teh early 2000s or my EA80. I have become a Maton believer, people. I have seen the light. Seriously, if you possibly can, get in to a shop somewhere (obviously, there is one in South Melbourne that goes all right) and play one of the new Matons. Thanks Josh!
Mick from the shop couldn't have been any more helpful, and patient! His knowledge and advice on what would suit me was invaluable. A year on and I'm still in love with my gorgeous girl!
Really nice guitar, and was helpful in the process of getting it to me.
Really nice guitar, and was helpful in the process of getting it to me.
I've always felt hindered by the poor ergonomics of my first guitar. I wanted a guitar that had an easy action, thinner neck, small body, quality pickup and warm full-bodied sound. I spent a long time trying most of the popular guitars in the $1000-$3000 bracket and couldn't have been happier when I found this one! The size is so accessible and yet the sound is unexpectedly full. Some of the other small body guitars lacked the sparkle, punch and body to their sound. Part of me thought that there was a catch. I haven't found it. Everyone that has heard it is confused how a small body can produce the kind of sound found in a high-end dreadnought! Now I'm four months in and still loving it!
Absolutely love this guitar. Has the big voice with great clarity and warmth and it truly comes alive with the AP5. I spent a lot of time looking around as I wanted to upgrade to a stage-quality acoustic. Initially I was leaning towards a dreadnought but as soon as I had my first strum I was hooked. The combination of blackwood and cedar produces amazing punch in a smaller sized body which is also incredibly comfortable to play. The build quality is exactly what you would expect from Maton and all the improvements that are encapsulated in this iteration of the SRS series makes for a very enjoyable instrument. I am not a professional musician and I was slightly nervous about purchasing a guitar that I would be unhappy with in 6 months time but I couldn't be happier and I would recommend this to anyone wanting to upgrade to a quality acoustic guitar for under $2000. My purchase also came with a rugged plush lined Maton case which was a bonus, and as is standard with Maton the guitar was fitted with Elixir strings.
